Five Parties Must Register for Presidential Election in Venezuela

Caracas, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Delcy Rodríguez, said today that five organizations must register as political parties before the National Electoral Council (CNE) by the end of this month to participate in the presidential election in Venezuela.

The organizations are Acción Democrática (AD), Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), Movimiento Primero Justicia (MPJ), Voluntad Popular Activista (VP) and Partido Unión y Entendimiento (Puente), the former foreign minister said on her Twitter account.

In addition to the notification they received from the CNE, Rodriguez tweeted, ‘We have received from the CNE the list of Political Organizations that must register according to the Constituent Decree’.

On January 27 and 28, those groups must appear before the CNE to renovate their status, as they did not participate in the recent elections.

The measure was adopted after the approval on December 20, 2017, of the Constituent Decree for the Validation of Political Parties, which establishes the revision of the organizations that did not participate in the previous elections, as established in the Constitution.
