BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Every summer artists from across the state perform classical music for Vermonters at the Vermont Mozart Festival.
Now, the festival is welcoming musicians from overseas. For the first time, Cuban Quartet will be performing Tuesday night at the Vermont Mozart Festival. Michael Dabroski, the leader of the festival, says he was teaching in Cuba in February when he met the group. He says the sound was so unique and different from the way classical music is typically presented and he hopes it will attract more people to the genre.
“The Cuban musical language is somewhat popular sounding but has the traditional style of string quartet, so we have a crossover,” Dabroski said.
The festival raises money for the nonprofit group. If you want to check them out, the concert is free at Hotel Vermont in Burlington from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
