La Paz, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales on Saturday recalled the declaration of Cuba as a territory free of illiteracy in 1961 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and its assistance to other countries.
‘Like today, 1961, brother Fidel Castro declared #Cuba as free of illiteracy. It was landmark for #Latin America, and one of the first achievements of the Revolution that liberated its people. Since then, Cuba has exported its exemplary educational and literacy system to the entire world,’ Morales wrote on his Twitter account.
Voluntary teachers called by Fidel Castro in one year took education to all corners of Cuba, a landmark in Latin America.
The large-scale implementation of the Cuban method ‘Yes, I Can’ at present has contributed to teaching millions of people to write and read in more than 130 countries.
