Egypt rejects US terrorism charges against Cuba

Cairo, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) The Egyptian Communist Party today condemned the US decision to include Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, while highlighting the resistance of its people to the blockade and their vocation for solidarity.

This is a decision by the outgoing US President (Donald Trump), accused of inciting his supporters and extreme right-wing organizations to storm the Capitol, which houses both houses of Congress, said the group.

The friendly Cuban people have been suffering from an imperialist blockade for more than 60 years; that siege is what we consider to be terrorism in itself, and an act that contradicts the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, says a statement by that political group.

In the statement, it ratifies its solidarity with the Caribbean State and with its Communist Party, and also highlights the efforts of its inhabitants to overcome the limitations derived from the economic, commercial and financial siege maintained by successive U.S. administrations.

The Cuban people – the text adds – endured many sacrifices to build its Revolution, which allowed it to achieve free health and education systems and a fair economic and social model for everyone on the island.

In its statement, the Egyptian Communist Party praises the internationalist vocation of the island.

Its humanitarian aid extended to many countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America, Cuba is capable of defying U.S. arrogance and moving towards socialism, progress and peace based on justice, the Egyptian Communist Party asserts.
