East Havana: advances in beaches rehabilitation project

Cuban state institutions develop a project to restore the dunes of the beaches of the east of Havana, published the international news agency IPS.
Since 2012, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, along with the Institute of Oceanology and the Institute of Systematic Ecology, evaluate a series of studies and actions in order to safeguard the coastal ecosystem of the country.
The rehabilitation plan of the area includes the demolition of buildings located on the dune, removal of foundations buried under the sand, the location of gateways for transit of swimmers and shoreline reforestation with species typical of the coast.
