Diaz-Canel underscores global rejection of US policy on Cuba

Havana, Jan. 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday underscored the international community’s rejection of Cuba’s inclusion in the unilateral list (drawn by the US) of ‘States that sponsor terrorism’.

‘World activits strongly rejected the US base measure on Cuba and also condemned the failed and cruel imperial policy,’ the Cuban president tweeted.

Previously, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked international activists, politicians, institutions and personalities, who deeply condemned the US Department of State’s step, for their support.

In fact, messages from the Governments of Venezuela, China and Syria, as well as from communist parties, solidarity groups, European lawmakers, regional blocs, among others, described this action as an attempt at putting new economic and diplomatic restrictions on Cuba.

Diaz-Canel warned on Wednesday that this inclusion is part of ‘the death throes of a failed and corrupt administration committed to the Miami-Cuban mafia.’

‘The discredited Trump administration does everything possible to hinder and prevent an improvemed relation under (Joe) Biden,’ he Tweeted.

Despite the international rejection of this unilateral decision, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Cuba’s inclusion in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Cuba was excluded from that list in 2015, during the rapprochement process with the United States during Barack Obama’s second term (2009-2017).
