Havana, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed Cuba’s gratitude to all 52 health professionals who rendered their internationalist collaboration for two months in the Italian region of Crema.

When welcoming them through a video conference upon their arrival in Havana, the head of State regretted not being able to hug them due to the health measures taken to contain the spreading of Covid-19.

We can only try to fill your heart today with words and tell you from the deepest of our emotions: Thanks, he pointed out, after sending them best wishes from Army General Raul Castro and other national leaders.

I hope that during all this time you have felt the admiration, affection and pride expressed by the applause that our people have given you, because you represent the victory of life over death, of solidarity over selfishness, Diaz-Canel pointed out.

The president added that those doctors’ efforts have proved to the world a truth that Cuba’s enemies have tried to silence: the strength of Cuban medicine.

During these two crucial months for the world, the United States took all kinds of actions against Cuba, said the president, who mentioned the inclusion of the Caribbean island in the list of countries that do not collaborate in the fight against terrorism, the persecution of ships carrying fuel and the new sanctions imposed on Cuban institutions.

The president expressed the Cuban people’s pride for the proposal by organizations and personalities from all over the world to grant the Henry Reeve Brigade the Nobel Peace Prize.

When the world becomes a fairer and nobler place, the Cuban health system will certainly be awarded for adopting Marti’s ideal that homeland is humanity, to which Fidel Castro and Raul Castro devoted their lives, he stressed.
