Paris, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is attending France”s international travel and tourism trade fair TOP RESA with a large delegation to promote the country as a destination of many attributes, said Deputy Tourism Minister Luis Miguel Diaz.
Diaz told Prensa Latina that last year, 187,000 French holidaymaker visited Cuba, a record number that is expected to be exceeded this year, a reason why the French market offers many prospects for work.
According to the deputy minister, one of the priorities is to present the Cuba destination with its varied attractions, which go beyond the sun and beach options and include history, culture, heritage, nature tourism and nautical activities.
The official said in this regard that ‘one of our priorities as a ministry is to make circuit tourism grow at the same pace as the sun and beach options.’
For the upcoming peak tourist season that will start in November, he added, we will have new hotels in cities like Remedios, Cienfuegos, Gibara, Camagüey and Havana to foster this modality.
In spite of the damaged caused by Hurricane Irma recently in Cuba, several resorts like Havana, Varadero, Holguín and the east of part of the country are already functioning normally, he explained.
