Cuba’s Historian Eusebio Leal Will Receive Hadrian Award in New York

New York, U.S., Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Havana Historian, Eusebio Leal, will receive in this city the Hadrian Award granted by the World Monuments Fund (WMF), reported the permanent mission of Cuba to the UN.

The award is given annually, since 1988, to artists and civic leaders who contribute significantly in the field of conservation, understanding, appreciation and preservation of the world heritage.

On this occasion the merit is for Leal, in recognition of his efforts to preserve and restore Old Havana, one of the most beautiful and preserved historic centers of our continent, which was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1982.

The outstanding Cuban intellectual was received yesterday afternoon by the members of the Board of Directors of the Fund, who welcomed him.

WMF is a private, non-profit organization based in New York, which is focused on rescue and conservation of artistic heritage around the world.

Since its creation, it has worked in 90 countries and has branch offices in the United Kingdom, India, Italy, Peru, Portugal and Spain.
