Havana, Jun 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelino Medina, welcomed the co-chairman of the British organization ”Cuba Initiative,” Lord David Triesman, the Cuban Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The meeting took place on Monday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) in Havana.
According to diplomatic sources, Medina and Triesman, who heads a delegation of British businessmen visiting Cuba, discussed bilateral relations and highlighted the good state of those ties.
They also expressed their interest in expanding economic-commercial ties and cooperation.
The Cuban Deputy FM highlighted the role of the Cuba Initiative in seeking to strengthen ties, mainly in fostering trade and investment.
He also thanked the British Government for its support to the Cuban people’s struggle to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States almost 60 years ago.
The businessmen’s delegation will also visit facilities of the BioCubaFarma Business Group and the Mariel Special Development Zone.
