Water polo squads, of both sexes, will start the participation of the Cuban delegation to the 17th Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, when facing, in both cases, their counterparts of United States.
In the Pan / Parapan Markham Atos Centre of the northern city, the Caribbean sides will try to have a good opening against one of the favorite squads to contest the final of the tournament.
According to the official website of the continental competition, the Cuban men´s squad will play a day later against Argentina, while tomorrow, the women’s team will face Mexico and the men will fight versus Ecuador, a priori the weakest side of Group One.
The men’s team includes the seasoned player Ernesto Cisneros, 41, who will participate in his fourth Pan American Games.
Since the first edition of the games in Buenos Aires 1951 (Argentina), Cuba holds a record of one gold, five silver and two bronze medals in the men’s event, while the women have reached a medal of each color, since their debut in Winnipeg 1999.
