Hanoi, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will contribute to immunize the Vietnamese population against Covid-19 with its Abdala vaccine and will transfer technology to produce it in that nation, local media reported on Tuesday.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel in conversation with his counterpart, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, affirmed his country will try to supply the antigen to Vietnam, a sister nation.
Such effort will begin from now until the end of 2021, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) referred.
Diaz-Canel also expressed his willingness to send experts to transfer the technology of that vaccine to be produced in Vietnam.
In their telephone conversation yesterday, the two leaders reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity and willingness to support each other in any circumstance. Likewise, they agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experiences in the process of building socialism in the two countries.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh vowed to boost cooperation in clinical trials, licensing, supply and transfer of Cuba’s vaccine production technology against Covid-19 to the country, the VNA noted. Cuba – the first country in Latin America with three vaccines of its own (Abdala, Soberana 02, Soberana Plus) – also has two vaccine candidates Soberana 01 and Mambisa, the latter is one of the few in the world that is nasally administered.
