Cuban tennis could bring home medals from the Central American Games

For the next Central American and Caribbean Games Cuban tennis team aspires to reach medals in three modes, female, male and mixed doubles. The team includes two players of each sex who are waiting to do their best.

Juan Antonio Ramos, national tennis commissioner, said that they are still waiting more invitations for a man and a woman, which would give the possibility to have two representatives in the individual event, expanding possibilities medals.

The cast so far selected consists of: William Dorantes, first Cuban racket, who will partner Omar Hernandez, while the ladies are Yusleidys Smith and Yenise Machado.

The main rivals are the players from the host country, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Dominican Republic. The competition will be held from November 23 to 29 at the hard courts belonging to the Raquet Club Las Palmas, Veracruz.

In the edition of 2006 Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Cuba won a silver medal in the women’s doubles and two bronze in the men’s and mixed doubles. (Prensa Latina)
