Cuban projects nominated for Information Society Prizes

Havana, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban projects about gender equality, commercial television advertising speech and a radio station are nominated today for prizes at the 2021 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) published on its website a list of the candidates for this year’s competition, and Cuba is nominated for Enabling environment with the initiative ‘Gender equality in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT),’ by the Cuban Informatics Union.

In the Media section, Cuba is nominated with ‘CMHS Radio Caibarien,’ by the Institute of Radio and Television.

While in Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society, the project nominated is ‘Construction of gender in the commercial television advertising discourse of Cubavision Internacional,’ also by the Cuban Informatics Union.

From the island, citizens can vote by accessing the ITU website (https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/Prizes/2021/Vote).

Only one project is allowed to be chosen in each of the 18 categories and the deadline expires on March 31.
