Havana, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described Wednesday as meddling and slanderous a recent statement by the so-called Lima Group against Venezuela and Cuba.
The President warned in his Twitter that, with that position, the countries that issued the statement have got on the wagon of Washington’s anti-Venezuelan crusade and echoed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who in his recent Latin American tour ratified the aggressiveness against Caracas and Havana.
The Lima Group, in a 17-point statement issued in Santiago de Chile on April 15, insisted on efforts to impose regime change on Venezuela, accusing it of human rights violations.
It also pointed at several countries, including Cuba, for their support to legitimate President Nicolas Maduro. Such a stance would have a negative impact on the region, the Head of State predicted.
Diaz-Canel praised on Twitter the Caribbean nations present for not joining the declaration.
