Cuban judiciary must be characterized by its ethics

Havana, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel called for a Cuban judicial system characterized by its ethics, commitment and honesty, at the annual sector inauguration on Thursday.

Strength in the creation and enforcement of law is also needed, as well as contributing more victories to the homeland and the Revolution, the head of State added, according to a tweet from the Presidency of the Republic.

Diaz-Canel participated in the opening of the 2020 judicial year, which was held under the premise of effective and transparent justice.

Also present at the event held in the People’s Supreme Court (TSP) were its President, Ruben Remigio Ferro; National Assembly of People’s Power President Esteban Lazo, and Attorney General Yamila Peña.

The meeting analyzed the deficiencies and solutions in the performance of the TSP and courts, Ferro noted on his Twitter account.

The main objective of Cuba’s judicial system is to be fairer, more transparent, more attached to the Constitution, and more efficient and effective when doing justice, the Supreme Court president explained in his speech.

He noted that the presence of Diaz-Canel and other leaders is an acknowledgement of courts and reinforces their commitment.
