Cuban Inter-religion Platform Convenes International Meeting

Havana, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Inter-religion Platform convened today the International Meeting for inter-religious dialog and world peace. It will be held in Havana from October 16 to 18, 2015.

The coordinator of this organization, reverend Oden Marichal, stated at a press conference that with this event the religions integrating the platform reaffirm their desire for peace and express their commitment to be active in the construction of a climate of peace, harmony and reconciliation for our society.

He also said that peace is an invaluable asset for all religions, while refusing the use of religious ideas as an excuse for the exercise of terrorism and wars.

According to the organizer of the event, it must be attended by nearly 1.500 people, of which it is expected that nearly 1.000 are from abroad.

Marichal recalled that this platform was created in Cuba on September 12, 2011 aimed to work for the return of the five Cuban anti-terrorists to their families.

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero, were incarcerated for monitoring terrorist actions against Cuba planned by violent groups settled in the territory of Florida.

The Five, as they are internationally known, are already back on the island.

Marichal recalled that this platform currently works for the reinforcement of the unity of the Cuban family.
