Cuban Doctors Attend to 1,732 Bolivians in Free Health Fair

Cochabamba, Bolivia, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuban doctors as part of the medical cooperation team in Bolivia treated 1,732 patients during the first day of the 16th Integral Health Fair in the central department of Cochabamba.

The initiative is being carried out on March 22,23 and 24 at the headquarters of the Coordinator of the Six Federations of the Cochamba Tropic, in an effort to provide health and save lives, the medical team reported on Saturday.

People were attended to in Integral General Medicine (782), ophthalmology (449), gynecology (263) and internal medicine (228). Consultations on gastroenterology, cardiology (140 counting both) and pediatrics (137) were also requested.

Some 54 doctors from Cuba who work jointly with Bolivian professionals are taking part at the Health Fair. In 2016 and 2017, over 91,000 people were seen free of charge by Bolivian and foreign specialists in this type of event. The patients also received services of ultrasound scan, clinical laboratory, optometry, pharmacy, electrocardiogram, endoscopy and dental care.
