Havana, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Irene Rodriguez Dancing Company celebrated its 5th foundation anniversary in Cuba, opening a host building for the work focused in Spanish dances.
Director Irene Rodriguez herself said that, undoubtedly, the most relevant thing this year was the delivery of the host building for the company and dancing school.
Irene Rodriguez, a winner of the 2012 Ibero American Choreography Award, is today one of the greatest Cuban dancers and, possibly, one of the most beautiful dancers in the world.
With her company, Irene Rodriguez wants to offer a very contemporary vision of flamenco dancing.
She premiered her most recent work ‘Amaranto’ at the Alicia Alonso Great Theater of Havana in March, with a great success and acceptance.
Later, the dancing company has been submerged into several international presentations in the United States and Colombia.
The Irene Rodriguez Company would return to the United States on other occasions to offer their art at the Chautauqua Institute in New York, and in Massachusetts to star in six shows at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, the most prestigious dance festival in the country.
Rodríguez, who is a doctor in Dancing Arts and has been directing the La Huella de España Festival in Cuba for several years, received a few months ago the Ibero-American Medal awarded by the Honoris Causa Foundation and the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.
