Cuban cultural institution mourns Armando Manzanero

Havana, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Music Institute (ICM) on Monday expressed its condolences for the death of the popular Mexican singer songwriter Armando Manzanero at the age of 85, due to a cardiac arrest associated to complications from Covid-19.

We regret the death of the exceptional composer and singer Armando Manzanero due to Covid-19, the ICM said on its official Twitter account.

The icon of romantic songs in Spanish visited Cuba two years ago (2018) to give a mass concert near Havana’s Malecon (Seafront Drive). He was accompanied by Cuban singers like Eliades Ochoa, Haila Maria Mompie and Omara Portuondo.

On that occasion, Manzanero sang classical songs from his repertoire, including Somos Novios, Adoro, Esta Tarde Vi Llover, Huele a Peligro and Contigo Aprendi.
