Havana, Mar 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel sent a message of welcome to the health collaborators who returned to the country on Monday, after facing Covid-19 in Mexico for more than three months.
At Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, Deputy Minister of Public Health Regla Angulo received the 123 professionals, who are part of the third group of the Henry Reeve Contingent that worked in Mexico City since December 14, 2020.
It was a very beautiful experience, commented nurse Dalia Rosa Fernandez to Prensa Latina, who expressed the affection with which the Mexican people thanked the Cubans for their efforts.
The performance of these 84 doctors, 38 graduates in nursing and one specialist in electromedicine earned them the recognition of the Mexican Health Secretariat, the National Defense Secretariat and the Government of the country’s capital.
‘We fulfilled the mission assigned to us,’ said Felipe Aguila, who shared the work with his son, physician Genny Rafael Aguila, to Prensa Latina.
This is the second time that Felipe has faced Covid-19 in Mexico and he affirms that even though the pandemic was more aggressive at this stage, they left behind a more favorable epidemiological situation.
At the Chivatito, Campo 1ª and Sexto Batallon de Morteros temporary hospitalization operating units, the aid workers treated a total of 408 patients suspected or positive for SARS-CoV-2, and were able to save 216 lives.
