Cuban Authorities are Confident in Tourism Future

Havana, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban authorities expressed their confidence in the development and boom of the travel industry for this island, with the hope of closing this year with five million foreign visitors.

The commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba (Mintur), Miguel Bernal, stated today in a press conference that ‘besides carrying the five million (tourists) in our hearts, we have them as a set goal’.

Bernal showed his confidence in the future of tourism in the country, a criterion joined by Mintur communication director, Janet Ayala, who also shared the talk with the informants in the Ambassador Hall II of Hotel Tryp Habana Libre in this capital.

They mentioned that at the end of 2017, this archipelago received 4.689.898 foreign visitors, the best figure in the Cuban tourist history.

Cuba thus grew in that period 16.2 percent, when in most nations of the world the figures of increase oscillate from 3.5 to 4 percent, which indicates the dynamism of this sector here.

The experts gave these data on the occasion of the celebration next week, from May 2 to 5, of the 38th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2018) which is expected to be attended by more than 3.000 professionals and 140 specialized journalists.
