Cuba will Never Depend again on Just One Market, Says Minister

libreta4Beirut, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca asserted today that his country would not depend again on just one market, not even when the US economic blockade is lifted.

Speaking to businesspeople from Lebanon and other Arab countries in the opening ceremony of the Cuban-Lebanese Economic Forum, which was held today in Beirut, Malmierca offered full guarantees of security, seriousness and facilities to invest in the Caribbean nation.

He explained that in the new situation of reestablishment of relations between the United States and Cuba, the island’s priority is to continue diversifying the economic and trade relations with the rest of the world, including the Middle East nations.

Under any circumstances, even when we achieve what today seems impossible in a near future, the lifting of the economic, trade and financial blockade of my country, we will depend again on just one market. Never again, we will depend on one market. We need to diversify, he said.

He reiterated that the Cuban willingness was to diversify its economic relations, and the authorities in Havana know that we have serious allies for our economic development in the Middle East, especially in Lebanon.
