Montego Bay, Jamaica, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will highlight the importance of South-South cooperation and its willingness to strengthen it at the 35th FAO Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean, which will begin here on Monday.
According to members of the Cuban delegation to this forum of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Cuba will also refer to issues related to climate change, drought, hurricanes and reinforcing civil defense against these phenomena.
It will also express its support for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and will urge the industrialized countries to continue their financial contribution to aid the development of poor nations.
Cuba will also appreciate the support received from FAO for various development projects carried out in the country.
The program of the 35th Conference includes among the main issues of debate the ending of hunger and the eradication of all forms of malnutrition in the region.
It also foresees the focus on a truly transformative agenda towards the objectives of sustainable development, and will also be a favorable moment to raise awareness of the State of Food Security in the world (SOFI 2017).
This event will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Center with the participation of representatives from 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
