Cuba, Vietnam, Rejects Tightening of US Blockade against Cuba

Hanoi, May 25 ( Prensa Latina ) From Vietnam, Cuba denounced that the U.S. government intends to tighten the blockade against the island by activating Title III of the Helms Burton Act.

Members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Hanoi made a tour of places of interest in the northern province of Ninh Binh and in a meeting with local authorities claimed that the intentions of Donald Trump’s administration will crash once again against the unwavering will of his people.

The Cuban ambassador in Vietnam Lianys Torres assured that this new attempt by the United States tightens the blockade against the Caribbean nation and continues the subversive and forceful policy that it has applied since its defeat in Bay of Pigs, an event whose 58th anniversary was commemorated in the evening.

Last May 2, Washington activated in its entirety Title III of the Helms Burton Act, aimed at internationalizing and perpetuating the blockade against Cuba to suffocate it economically, raising the possibility of lawsuits on properties nationalized after the triumph of the Revolution.

In Ninh Binh, Cuban diplomats toured the Trang An Scenic Landscape Ensemble, the first site in the world to be declared a Mixed Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in recognition of its historical and cultural heritage and its natural beauties.

They also visited the ancient pagoda of Bai Dinh, where the oldest relics of the development of Buddhism in Vietnam, the majority religion in this country, are preserved.

The temple’s authorities gave Ambassador Torres a reply to a very ancient statue of Buddha, as a sign of the spiritual solidarity that the Vietnamese have with the Cubans.
