Cuba to celebrate May 1st with solidarity, commitment, President said

Havana, April 30 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel said this Thursday that solidarity and commitment will prevail in Cuba in the celebration of May 1st, International Workers’ Day.

‘Our people with beautiful initiatives, with infinite imagination and creativity, with solidarity and commitment, saving lives will celebrate May Day by sentimentally recognizing the victors of fear, the brave, the supportive, the disciplined,’ he wrote on Twitter.

The post was accompanied by the tag #MiCasaEsMiPlaza and by photographs, one of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and another with the slogan of this commemoration: For Cuba, united we will win.

This is the third tweet from the president regarding the date. Yesterday, Wednesday, he called for a celebration with ‘flags, applause, songs and shared feelings, from our homes.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday he called to honor the health personnel during the celebrations.

Diaz-Canel also urged that the national anthem be sung at eight o’clock in the morning to commemorate the event and to pay homage to those who are working to defeat the Covid-19.

This will be a different day in Cuba, since due to the isolation measures for the pandemic, the traditional parade through the country’s squares and parks will not take place.

The Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) invited to make a different celebration, with initiatives from home or in the essential workplaces, as well as in the social networks.
