Vienna, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuba stressed here that technical cooperation is the main resource for the promotion of the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Cuban representative at the UN Office in this capital, Juan Antonio Fernandez, and the international organizations based in Austria, highlighted the contribution of such cooperation to developing countries.
Speaking at the Committee on Assistance and Technical Cooperation at the International Atomic Energy Agency, he also referred to the contribution the mentioned section should be made to the realization of the internationally agreed goals in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Fernandez stressed on the need to allocate more resources to the Cooperation Program and distribute them equitably. He noted that in no case, restrictions, limitations or conditions to the good performance of the Program should be imposed.
He also stressed the importance of the Regional Cooperative Agreement for the Promotion of Science and Nuclear Technology in Latin America and the Caribbean recently extended for a five-year period, according to a note released by the embassy of the Caribbean nation.
