Cuba Seeks Allies to Boost Sustainable Industrial Development

Havana, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) The 2nd edition of the International Convention and Fair CubaIndustria 2016 will boost its sustainable industrial development with foreign participation, organizers said today.

The event, which will take place from June 20 to 24, will exhibit new technologies created by national experts. The island needs these new technologies in the short-medium term, said the vice president of the organizing committee, Adriana Barcelo.

Barcelo added that several projects will be presented during the event. These projects have completed their feasibility studies and will soon define their work schedules with the participation of foreign companies, which will allow the creation of joint companies.

According to Barcelo, CubaIndustria aims at encouraging foreign investment in the industrial development of the country and mentioned as example that negotiations with Russia on the production of trucks and railway equipment are progressing, as well as the negotiations with China, regarding the assembly of Yutong busses and electric motorbikes.

These and other projects find their space in PABEXPO exhibition center. The discussions, as well as 11 conferences on technology management, quality and industrial protection, packaging production, and topics involving the electronic, chemical, mechanical and metallurgical industries, will take place at the Conventions Center.

Russia will be the guest of honor at the event with an extensive agenda, including a business forum and the signing of agreements. A large Russian state delegation and more than 50 entrepreneurs will attend the event.

Also will be present 1.600 representatives of the Cuban industry and 400 participants from 28 countries, among them, and for the first time, 43 businessmen from the United States.
