Cuba Reflects on Historiography of America

san-geronimoHavana, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Historians from more than one dozen countries are discussing today in this capital about the current challenges of historiography around Cuba and America in the world.

Experts from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, United States, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain and Cuba, among other countries, are attending the first International Colloquium of Historians, to be held at the Havana’s San Geronimo University College.

Organized by the Union of Historians of Cuba, the event has as a premise to promote exchange between Cuban and foreign specialists in the historical and theoretical-methodological order about topics such as the vision of the current processes in Latin America.

Participants will also analyze the current difficulties of historiography and writing of history, theoretical and methodological problems of teaching, and the position confronting science, technology and environment.

Independence and revolution in this continent, Cuba and the world in the contemporary historiography and the different historical visions of America, will be issues under discussion at the colloquium, to be run until tomorrow.
