May 22 (Radio Rebelde) Cuba finished third in the 2018 NORCECA Women Volleyball Challenger Cup Qualification Tournament held in the city of Edmonton, Canada, from May 15 – 21.
In the bronze medal match, the Cuban team beat 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-13) Trinidad & Tobago, according to the contest website.
Regla Gracia (13), Diaris Perez (12) and Sulian Matienzo (11) were the scoring leaders of the winning side, although Trinidadian Darlene Ramdin (16) was the match leader, while her teammate Channon Thompson scored 12 points.
Puerto Rico defeated 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-27 and 15-8) Canada in the final, thus earning the only ticket the contest granted to the 2018 FIVB Challenger Cup.
The tournament was attended by five countries because Costa Rica withdrew in the last minute.
