Havana, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Cubans progresses on sexual rights were stressed by many participants to the , which ends today at the Conference Center in Havana.
In exclusive to Prensa Latina, German leftwing parliamentarian, Harald Petzold, stated that Cuba, compared with other countries in the region, has progressed on issues of gender equality, and reproductive health.
Since 2010, Petzold has maintained close ties to the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex), an entity he admires and which has facilitated contacts with German institutions that fight for gender equality, reproductive health, among others purposes.
About his experience when visiting other countries in the region, Petzold stated that from his position, he attends a parliamentary group that deals with this part of the hemisphere, and has had contact with the reality of states such as El Salvador, Venezuela, and Mexico.
Therefore, the example of Cuba, the fact that the National Center for Sex Education has engaged the government is very encouraging. In other countries, there is more resistance, he said.
According to the German parliamentarian, to achieve full sexual rights, the will by public activities is not enough, but the consent and support of governments is necessary.
