Havana, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) Main Cuban media today praise the vitality of the recently deceased musician Guillermo Rubalcaba, who on September 13 planned to launch an album in the Habanarte Festival.
At the age of 88, only a few weeks ago Rubalcaba could not hide to the press his enthusiasm that concert generated him because the album “Como en ayer, este” would be launched at the America Theater in this capital.
Juventud Rebelde newspaper states that Rubalcaba looked full of projects, which he attended with a huge capacity and talent, and the death surprised on September 7 imbued in his work.
While Granma daily stresses his humble origins and dedication to the domain of so different instruments, such as violin and saxophone, although the piano was his best friend, he left a family descent that follows his steps.
Rubalcaba directed the Charanga Típica band, baptized with his name, and experienced with that orchestra many of his famous piano tumbaos, an expression of enjoyment of the roots of Cuban music.
