Cuba Needs Feminine Strength, asserted Raúl Castro

Havana, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Raul Castro, stated today at the closing ceremony of the 10th Congress of the Cuban Women”s Federation (FMC) the country needs the strength of its women to go forward.

‘Today more than ever the country needs the strength and fortitude of Cuban women’, sentenced in brief words spoken at the Convention Center, where this Friday concluded debates of the organization made up by four million women workers, students and housewives.

After the closing speech of the congress, pronounced by the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, delegates asked Raul Castro to speak.

The congress encouraged the debate on topics such as gender equality, social work, the contribution of women to the social and economic development and the role of Young women to guarantee the continuance of the revolution.

Machado Ventura highlighted the depth of discussions, which he considered the advances of Cuban women during the six decades of the revolutionary process.

He also called on the FMC to boost strategies that lead greater protagonism of Cuban women in key sectors for the country’s economy, among them production and services.
