
The stamp issued Thursday in the headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) has the polychrome image of Vilma Espín, founding president of the Federation of Cuban Women, an organization of equality and social inclusion on the island.
According to the Cuban News Agency, UNEAC president, Miguel Barnet, pointed out the need to eliminate stereotypes and prejudices that curb the well-being of men and women.
By its part, the president of the Cuban Philatelic Federation, Raúl Lorenzo, said that this initiative enhances the country’s history and its efforts to guarantee the full exercise of the rights of all its inhabitants.
The event was also attended by the director of the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), Mariela Castro, and the president of UNEAC Performing Arts Association, Rolando Núñez, among others.
