‘Cuba is not alone’, Syrian deputy foreign minister states

Damascus, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Bashar Jaafari ratified his country’s solidarity and friendship with Cuba in the face of the United States blockade against the Caribbean island.

‘Cuba is not alone and has many friends and despite the geographical distance, the Syrians are in solidarity with the Cubans, because with their resistance they have earned the admiration of most of the countries of the world,’ the deputy foreign minister told Prensa Latina after meeting with Cuban Ambassador Miguel Porto.

He noted that Cubans were able, with their diplomatic and political prudence, to build a solid and contentious wall against the blockade, the consequences of which are being used by Washington to pressure and affect the independence of Cuba’s political decision-making.

‘Every time the Cuban draft resolution against the blockade is submitted to the United Nations General Assembly, it receives the support of the overwhelming majority of member States,’ the diplomat pointed out.

Jaafari clarified that the fact that only Israel votes with the United States against the resolution shows that it is the base of the US conspiracy in this region and against Cuba.

Finally, he thanked Cuba for its strong support for Syria at international forums.

In ‘1967, Cuba and Syria established diplomatic relations, which were subsequently consolidated during the governments of Presidents Hafez Al-Assad and Fidel Castro.
