HAVANA, Cuba, May 3 (acn) Amid the rapid growth on international visitors, Cuba holds its 26th International Tourism Fair (FITCUBA 2016) that will run from May 3 through the 7th in Havana City.
The opening ceremony at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater at 8 PM will mark the beginning of activities of this major event that aims at promoting the Cuban culture as a tourist product, and with Canada as the guest nation,
Some 2 thousand delegates representing the largest source markets for tourists to Cuba, including Canada, Germany. Spain, the UK, Mexico and the United States, participate in the Fair, according to its organizers.
Tour operators, travel agencies and entrepreneurs from all over the world gather in Havana to learn on the attractions of Cuba and the new business opportunities that arise from the Cuban Foreign Investment Law that came into force in 2014.
The fortresses of La Cabaña and the Morro Castle will host an exhibition fair with the presence of some 70 companies, both domestic and foreign, where they will display their products and services.
A novelty in this occasion is the presence of the emerging Cuban private service, that will introduce to the delegates and public their latest offers, as a complement to what the governmental entities do.
Over 150 members of international media outlets are covering the event, along with the permanent representations in Havana, and the national mass media.
