Havana, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) The 1st Scientific Congress of Applied Podiatry, Podosalud 2017, celebrates today in this capital its second day with the objective of deepening the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and alterations that affect the foot.
This Sunday’s agenda includes the debate at the Hotel Habana Libre on topics such as onychomycosis, a nail infection caused by fungi, which does not usually cause discomfort but can become chronic.
In addition, delegates from more than 15 countries will exchange knowledge about complications in diabetes mellitus, as well as the treatment indicated to the patient with diabetic foot, which presents in the form of infected wounds, loss of sensitivity and frequent ulcers.
The program also includes nail surgery techniques (for the definitive correction of ingrown nails), and the procedure to follow with elite athletes for plantar fasciitis, the most common condition of heel pain.
Podosalud 2017 accompanies an exhibition with the participation of Cuban and foreign companies from Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Panama.
According to the president of the organizing committee of the event, Miriam Mesa, the podiatry services in Cuba are guaranteed and cover all levels of care with a qualified staff.
