Cuba Hosts 5th Convention Tropico 2016

Havana, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The 5th Convention Tropico 2016 begins today at the Conference Center in Havana with the participation of 400 delegates from 17 countries under the slogan “For a Culture of the Land and Life.”

The event, dedicated to World Environment Day, on June 5, welcomes experts from Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Spain, the United States, Italy and Panama.

The host nation will be represented by delegates chosen from all the provinces of the country, to discuss issues related to the tropics.

Parallel to this Convention, is the 5th Congress of Tropical Geography, the 5th Congress of Tropical Agriculture, the 4th Congress of Biodiversity and Tropical Ecology, the 4th Congress of Tropical Meteorology, as well as an exhibition fair.

The first edition of the Colloquium of University and Geography in the Contemporary World and the Symposium on Environmental and Forest Law, will be also held. Several international projects such as Basal (Environmental Bases for the Local Food Sustainability), intended to support adaptation to climate change, will also be on the list.

The scientific program will include working tours of Havana and the westernmost province of Cuba, Pinar del Río.
