Cuba Holds Conference on English Language Teaching

Havana, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Higher Education (MES) and the British Council are holding today the third edition of the Conference on English Language Teaching (ELT) at the Panorama Hotel in Havana.

This biennial conference aims to expand the exchange on the teaching and learning of the English language in Cuba at different levels, as well as to show the problems faced, the experiences that have been obtained and the projections of the joint work in front of new challenges in this field.

Three keynote lectures by experts of the British Council will be held in this edition. They will travel to Cuba for the event and will exchange experiences with specialists from the Cuban Ministries of Education and Higher Education.

Those specialists will assess the possibilities of starting training sessions using remote teaching through the internet, as well as the APTIS system for the certification of the English language level of university students.

About 90 lectures by Cuban professors will be presented in the workshop sessions.

This event is carried out as part of the policy of improving the teaching of English language in universities and the joint working agreement between both institutions as a joint working relationship and systematic collaboration they have established since 1998.
