Cuba hits record in 2015 aquaculture output

The provinces of Sancti Spiritus, Camaguey and Villa Clara exceeded their goals for aquaculture production by 5,500t, 4,700t and 2,5000t respectively.

Cuba: Cuba aquaculture output totaled 27,228 metric tons in 2015, about 1,200t more than the expected production of the year, Noticias.uho reports.

This year’s farmed fish production represents the highest volumes recorded in Cuba since the beginning of aquaculture activity in the country, said Nelson Perez, Cuba’s aquaculture director.

Of the total production, 20,000t were carp, and 1,150t were tilapia.
