Cuba Heads to Pan American Youth Baseball Championship, Mexico

Havana, Sep 2.- Cuba announced today the team it has assembled to play at the Pan American Youth Baseball Championship, taking place from September 5-14, in Mexico.

The list announced by Coach Luis Cuba, leading the team for the second year, is headed by four fielders who were on the team that won bronze at the World Youth Championship last year.

They are Luis Roberto Moirán, Victor Victor Mesa, Julio Pablo Martinez and Yunier Diaz who will cover the fields along with rookie Jorge Luis Oña.

Meanwhile, the pitching staff will be led by Cionel Perez, with a stellar record in Cuban elite baseball, joining Daniel Pérez Pérez, Yunser Corrales, Ronald Bolaños, Yoan Oviedo, Raidel Orta and Michel Baez.

Infielders include Hasuan Viera, Omar Estevez, Denis Peña, Diosvel Arian, José Amaury Noroña and Luis Vicente Mateo, and the catchers will be Alexander Guerra and Ariel Martínez.

The Pan American Championship will begin next Friday and according to the schedule released by the organizers, the Cuban team will start against Panama at the Arthur Nahl stadium in southern Baja California. (Prensa Latina).
