Cuba finishes tenth in Athletics World Championships

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 31 (acn) Cuba finished in the tenth place in the standing positions of the Athletics World Championships held in Beijing China, with 2 gold medals and a silver one.

Kenya topped the standings with 7 gold, 6 silver and three bronze medals, trailed by Jamaica (7-2-3) and the United States (6-6-6), according to the official website of the event.

Russia, who won the previous championships when it was the host in 2013, finished in the ninth position, with a bronze medal more than Cuba.

After the US was Great Britain (4-1-2), followed by Ethipia (3-3-2), Poland (3-1-4), Canada (2-3-3), and Germany (2-3-3),

The Cuban delegation won its first gold medals since 2009, this time Yarisley Silva in pole vault (women) and Denia Caballero in discus throw. Triple jumper Pedro Pablo Pichardo won the silver medal.
