Paris, April 16 (Prensa Latina) At the time of the Covid-19, Cuba extends its aid to many countries hit by the pandemic and ratifies that it is a world leader in solidarity, said French intellectual Salim Lamrani on Thursday.
In an interview with Prensa Latina, the professor from the University of La Réunion stated that this support with health professionals, which these days also reaches developed nations such as Italy and Andorra, is the result of a tradition that dates back to the first years of the Revolution and shows its enormous human capital.
‘Cuba has an average of nine doctors for every thousand inhabitants, the highest rate on the planet. Thanks to this impressive human capital, it has made brotherhood with those in need a feature of its idiosyncrasy,’ he stressed.
According to Lamrani, by its example Cuba illustrates to the international community what should be the principles governing relations between countries: solidarity, mutual aid, respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, altruism and cooperation.
The specialist of the relations between Cuba and the United States warned that Cuba’s position contrasts with that assumed by Washington, which despite the Covid-19 insists on its blockades and sanctions.
‘The world is experiencing an unprecedented health tragedy, and instead of federating efforts and taking common action against the pandemic, the United States persists in applying an obsolete policy against Cuba, which is suffering, like all nations, the economic impact of the Covid-19, he said.
