Cuba Calls to Support More Events on Critical Medicine

Havana, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) The vice president of the Pan American Federation of Critical Medicine and Intensive Therapies, Agamenón Quintero, called here today to support events such as Urgrav 2017, which benefit patients in the region.

In Latin America, Cuban medicine is widely accepted, that is why we, as a regional institution, must support meetings of this kind, said Quintero, referring to the 7th International Congress of Urgencies, Emergencies and Intensive Care (Urgrav) that the Conventions Palace of Havana hosts since Tuesday.

The president of the Colombian Association of Critical Medicine also warned that work should continue on the universalization of knowledge, an aspect in which much remains to be done.

We have been given the task of organizing courses on the types of disasters that most affect our continent, to teach them in all the countries of our area. It is vital that all Latin American intensive care specialists have the opportunity to exchange and receive the same knowledge, stressed the specialist.

The Pan American Federation of Critical Medicine and Intensive Therapies is made up of 18 countries in Latin America; besides United States, Spain and Canada, the latter of recent incorporation.
