Cuba: Benchmark Again of Latin American Social Struggle

Havana, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) With the motto “Because Cuba is Ours”, representatives of Cuban civil society will today turn the country into a benchmark for Latin American peoples in their struggle for social demands.

In the context of the Continental Event for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, the Ignacio Agramonte Square at the University of Havana will be the venue today of a great mobilization for the respect of sovereignty and the cessation of interventionist actions against the Caribbean nation.

Cuban people will also demand an end to the blockade imposed by the United States and the closure of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo.

They will also support the protests of regional peoples against discrimination, femicide and the killing of community leaders.

Similar events have been confirmed for today in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay and other countries, the Cuban Chapter of the Coordination of Social Movements towards the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty, said.

The event is being promoted on seguimosenlucha.wordpress.com; in Facebook, Continental Conference for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism; and on Twitter with the users @seguimos_lucha and @MariaSilvita_95 and the hashtag #jornadacontinental, #cubaesnuestra and #seguimosenlucha.

The event is preceded by the hemispheric meeting held on November 2015 to celebrate the 10 years of the defeat of the FTAA at the Summit of the Peoples in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
