Cuba and Italy analyze possible cooperation in health sector

Rome, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador Jose Carlos Rodriguez and Italian Deputy Health Minister Pierpaolo Sileri met here on Tuesday to discuss possible cooperation in the field of health care between the two countries.

At the meeting, held at the Cuban Embassy, Sileri and Rodriguez spoke about the best ways to establish stable and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of health care, according to a press release from the Cuban Embassy.

In that regard, the ambassador gave the deputy minister the draft of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two countries’ ministries of Health, which includes actions in the field of medical sciences.

The two parties also reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the two countries, and the ambassador explained Cuba’s achievements in controlling the pandemic, including the recent reopening of its border under strict health surveillance.

Also present at the meeting were the Cuban Minister Counselor of the Embassy, Jorge Luis Alfonzo; Manuel Jacoangeli, diplomatic advisor at the Italian Ministry of Health; Roberto Speranza, and Chiara Cappelli, assistant to the deputy minister.
