Cuba and Canada strengthen ties in the tourism sector

Ottawa, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero, today develops a broad agenda of activities in Canada, the main issuer of travelers to that Caribbean island.

Marrero heads a delegation that traveled to this country to update Canadian professionals on national tourism developments and development, Cuban ambassador Josefina Vidal explained on her Twitter account.

As part of his tour, the official spoke in the cities of Montreal and Toronto with businessmen, operators, representatives of airlines and travel agencies about the Cuban destination.

‘Cuba is and will continue to be a destination of peace, healthy and safe for Canadians’, said the minister during one of those meetings.

He stressed that more than one million Canadians visit the largest of the Antilles every year.

They will always find us with open arms to receive them for what they are, our great family, he said.

According to official data, Cuba closed at the end of June with 72 thousand 965 hotel rooms, of which two thousand 81 were built in 2019.

To that figure will be added another four thousand 197 before the end of this year.

Four million 732 thousand tourists arrived in the country in 2018, although this year the authorities reduced the amount to 4.3 million due to the new sanctions of the United States Government, which included cruise travel bans.
