Feb 3 (Radio Rebelde) The will of Cuba and the Bahamas to maintain and expand educational collaboration that they have developed for 16 years was expressed in Nassau, capital of that latter country.
Jeffrey L. Lloyd, Minister of Education of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, received Alejandro Garcia del Toro, Cuban ambassador to that nation, in a meeting in which they highlighted the importance of the cooperation that Cuba offers in the different educational areas, according to Cubaminrex website.
The minister described the contribution of Cuban professors as invaluable, and made special mention to the teachers of special education, who along with those of technical and general education have worked in that Caribbean archipelago since August 2003.
They also discussed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding in order to continue cooperation and increase actions in different areas, including the realization of educational and cultural exchanges between students from both countries.
Lorraine Armbrister, permanent secretary of that Bahamas Ministry of Education, also attended the meeting, while Garcia del Toro was accompanied by Jose Garcia Sanchez, representative of the Cuban Ministry of Education for collaboration in the Bahamas.
