Covid-19 recoveries in Cuba rise to 1,229

Havana, May 11 (Prensa Latina) With 36 new recoveries, the number of coronavirus patients who have recovered in Cuba rose to 1,229, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported on Monday.

MINSAP’s director of Epidemiology Francisco Duran informed both figures during the usual press briefing to update on the impact of the novel SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus in the island.

Recoveries represente 68.9% of the total of 1.783 positive cases, said the doctor, who reported 17 new cases from 1,848 tests made in the past 24 hours.

He stressed that no death was reported, so the island remains at 77.

On the other hand, Duran affirmed that of 475 active patients, 468 are clinically stable, two cases were sent to their countries of origin, one patient is critical and six are seriously ill.

The doctor again urged the Cubans to maintain protective measures, to ‘not neglect’, and to follow the authorities’ guidelines to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
