Havana, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Casa de las Americas or House of the Americas, is holding the third edition of the International Colloquium of Studies on Native Cultures of the Americas, scheduled for October 9-12 in Havana.
The objective of the event is to make visible the current challenges, realities and creations of the indigenous and native peoples of Abya Yala, the name given to the American continent before the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
The slogan Indigenous Languages of America: expressions, translations, recovery will guide the debate of the participants, who will be able to dialogue about the link of these dialects with public policies, access to justice and health, education and other processes of socialization and formation.
With the broad program, the House of the Americas is continuing to disseminate the expressions of the indigenous peoples of the hemisphere, in particular, the actions of the Program of Studies on Native Cultures, founded in 2011 by the institution.
In addition, it seeks to promote a rapprochement with these peoples and their languages, which are sometimes forgotten in the geographical-cultural map and nevertheless are an integral part of indigenous cultures, which are in increasing danger of disappearing.
